Does anyone know where they filmed the sacrifice scene. Only area I've found that might be it is on Highway 336 that runs along the West Frio River, a few miles north of Leakley, Texas. My brother did say that the scary tree was added by production crew. Any help is appreciated!

NO,No, You're way off... Although the setting was Texas, The scene of the sacrifice Was filmed In the High Desert of California, Between like, NEEDLES and INDIO or EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE... Just entering or leaving depending on your travel east or west, JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL FOREST
shareSorry. The movie was filmed entirely in Texas, not California. The director talks about this on the dvd commentary track. You can tell just by the landscape that it was not filmed in California.

Pretty much everybody across that part of Texas is in on it, except for the good-natured guy who sells them the gun and wishes them happy hunting. I never thought of him as being "one of them." Maybe it was because he let them keep their change.
