Questions about Sheriff Taylor (possible spoilers)
Was Sheriff Taylor the high priest of the satanic cult that killed the girl? I noticed that role (priest) was not credited. He would have had to been, right, since the conspiracy was so vast?

Exactly. That would have clued me in that something was up. I think I would have played along and agreed with the sheriff at that point instead of making a big 'ta do' out of it. Then, when reaching Amarillo or a bigger city maybe reporting it or something. It may have saved their lives.
shareI know it's never been proven but I'm inclined to believe the sheriff was the high priest of the cult. R.G. Armstrong was quite notorious for starring in many satanic movies and if the stories about him are true, he was actually involved in the occult in his private life - and he supposedly loved this particular role. Of course, he's since passed on but his devilish legacy lives on in film. Little known fact: Armstrong also played the boogeyman in Metallica's video "Enter Sandman". Talk about a fitting tribute!
