Better version?

The full version or the uncensored English version?

reply

I would say either the full or the American cut. Not the Uncensored Version.

Umm why would you say the American cut but not uncensored? The original U.S. cut (found on many cheapo public domain DVDs) had violence cut out. The one on the Blu-ray does not. It's obvious which one is superior.

I would actually recommend watching the U.S. cut first and then watching the original Italian version which has about twenty extra minutes of character development. I prefer this version but I admit the U.S. cut flows better, especially for a first viewing.

I saw the full Italian cut that was on the original Anchor Bay DVD, back when Anchor Bay was a good studio releasing Italian horror. The Blue Underground DVD I saw just didn't wow me. I only saw the American cut not too long ago. I got it off the Internet Archive and even though the video is crap and cropped to 4:3, I think the shorter run time helped it.

The Anchor Bay and Blue Underground DVDs are the same. The Blue Underground Blu-ray has the American cut on it in great quality and it doesn't have any gore cut out (hence "uncensored") unlike the public domain versions.

The transfers are different on the DVDs. The color is all wacky on the Blue Underground release compared to the Anchor Bay DVD.
