Rest room scene question. MAJOR SPOILER

Major Spoiler
Profondo Rosso is still one of my fave giallos. One thing puzzles me. In the opening scenes, the stranger makes a trip to the rest room, and gets violently sick in the one of the stalls. Another patron walks in and notices this stranger and asks if the stranger needs any assistance? Didn’t the patron realize the stranger was in the wrong rest room?

reply

Well,

The "stranger" was most likely wearing a hat, sun glasses and maybe even a fake mustache to hide her identity. So the other patron probably didn't pay too much attention to her face as it was a generic face as the next person.

Yes, wearing sun glasses in an indoor environment is weird but it happens a lot.

reply

Thanks.

I always assumed they were in a general hand-washing area and the "stranger" hadn't gone back into the actual toilet area. It really wouldn't make sense to me if the stranger was disguised at the psychic conference unless they were premeditating the next murder. And from what I gathered, the stranger didn't go there to stalk anyone. The murder was committed as a result of someone learning too much information by accident. At least that was my impression.

Why does everyone think this happened in a mens restroom? It was CLEARLY in a unisex washing area. The male n female restroom entrances were CLEARLY visable beyond the sinks.
Remakes = garbage

reply

Yeah, in Rome (and most other European cities) the restrooms have a unisex way area with male and female toilets in honing rooms.

She tried to look and act like a man. Remember when David Hemmings suddenly slammed a door to keep the killer out of his room? She said something and she sounded like a man. I never would have guessed she was the killer.
