Who was the second chick that was murdered (bathroom with the steamed up mirrors) and why was she killed?
If this is stupid then I apologize but I watched this with two dodo birds who talked through 75% of the film so I missed a lot of what was going on because I couldn't hear it.

The previous scene shows the killer who tries to kill Mark inside his house and the day after, he buys the album in which the Lullaby was featured and asks Professor Giordani about it, the other guy (Bardi) tells Mark that he read a book that mentioned that lullaby.
Mark tracks down the book and the writer's name (Amanda Righetti) in a library where we clearly see someone spying on him.
So the killer reaches her and kills her before he gets to her house.
She is killed because she could tell him where the house he's looking for is located.
