Timothy Carey as Sid the Torpedo

I watched the DVD of Peeper, found it enjoyable, but one thing bothered me. Sid the Torpedo (played by the great Timothy Carey)seems to just disapear from the film, while chasing Natalie Wood's character aboard a cruise ship. I watched the sequence over and over, but his character inexplicably vanishes.

I did an internet search, and came up with the reason. Actor Don Calfa (who played Sid's fellow Torpedo/Hit Man), said during an interview that Carey was fired from Peeper (reason not disclosed), and that a double had to be used for certain long shots. "Sid" was dropped from the chase/action sequence, which was filmed at night, because the Actor was no longer available. Some tricky editing during a fight scene, where all the characters are grappeling in the darkness, and no more Sid!

Apparently, not the first time that Timothy Carey was fired from a film.
