The Chief killed McMurphy because he thought McMurphy was ignoring him?

Chief did not kill McMurphy because he thought McMurphy was ignoring him. That just sounds plain ridiculous. Chief killed McMurphy because when he saw the lobotomy scars on McMurphy's forehead, he couldn't bear to see him in that state and smothered him with a pillow in an act of mercy killing. If you ask me, it was a very sad, sad ending.

I agree. But it was not a bad ending IMO.

I suppose it was a good ending because of the emotion around it. But, not only was the death of McMurphy pretty sad but the death of Billy Bibbit was even more heart-wrenching, as well. I cannot believe that after driving Billy Bibbit to commit suicide by threatening to tell his mother that he lost his virginity, Nurse Ratched nonchalantly told the other men to carry on the day like normal as if nothing happened, as if none of them saw that ghastly image of Billy lying on a floor in that pool of blood. I had difficulty understanding Nurse Ratched and I still do, but I think I am beginning to see why many people think she was so horrible.

Yeah, I think she was a downright evil woman, and not just a bitch. Because in all the scenes where she frustrated people (not turning on the ballgame, threatening to tell Billy's mother, etc) she appeared to get great pleasure out of doing it. She liked playing with people, and getting them upset. Like REALLY upset. And when she told her boss at the meeting that she'd like McMurphy to stay here, I get the feeling she only suggested it so she could continue having control over him, and possibly even setting him up to lead him to getting a lobotomy. She abused her position of authority.

Of course that's why Ratched wanted McMurphy to stay.

I am still marveling over the fact that coolbrett is "just beginning to see why many people think she (Nurse Ratched) was so horrible." Just beginning to see why? What more evidence could anyone need?

I didn't get it either. But your explanation of it being a euthanasia makes perfect sense.

I wondered about that too until I looked it up on Wikipedia. It was a "mercy killing".

It was a sad ending but it seemed right?

That idiot obviously wasn't paying attention to the movie.

I messaged the owner of that Facebook page myself, and when I tried to explain to him/her the real reason why the Chief killed McMurphy, he/she blew off everything I said and insisted on sticking to his/her ridiculous theory that the Chief killed McMurphy because Chief thought McMurphy was ignoring him. To honest with you, I think the page owner knew the real reason why Chief killed McMurphy and that he/she came up with and used that ridiculous reason for the pure sake of being annoying and obnoxious.

Bingo! With all due respect I'm kind of astonished that you didn't arrive at that conclusion earlier.

Reality is the new fiction they say, truth is truer these days, truth is man-made

I'm pretty sure I came up with that conclusion when I stated in a previous post that the reason that the said person came up with on why Chief killed McMurphy was "just plain ridiculous". I was able to verify it more when I messaged that person on his/her Facebook page.

With so many who clearly don't get this movie, I took this as satire. Come on, it's funny.
