Anybody know where to find this film?
I remember seeing this film on TV in Belgrade in the late seventies and liking its broad scope and good acting. Does anyone know whether it can be found on any medium (VHS,DVD)?
shareThe long, uncut version consisting of 12 episodes (640 min) has just come out on DVD format in Poland (4 DVDs). The restoration quality is pretty good and it costs very little relativly to it's length. There must be some shop that could send it abroad. The DVDs do not include any kind of subtitles, though.
The movie version of this series was already available on DVD for a long time (in Poland), but I thought it was chopped badly when I saw it on TV and waited for the full version to come out. But maybe this shorter one includes English subtitles.

The mini-series version is not in widescreen. It was made only for television in times when there were no WS sets, so the image was cut to accomadate that.

To tell the truth, I can compare the two only from memory, because I only have the TV Version at home, but it looks like the one I got is the cropped one - often the close-ups seem rather extreme.
