Chess in movies

As evidenced by the title and Harry's desire to play chess by himself at different parts of the movie, the game has a value in the plot. Harry reminded me of Rick in "Casablanca" who also relaxed by playing by himself at times in a game of chess. I was wondering if there were other movies that employed the game of chess in plot motivation. Any help???? Thanks!

Well, you have the ABSOLUTELY horrendous "Knight Moves" (no, really!) with Christopher Lambert.

Enjoy!

I think the only reason the chess game exists is as foreshadowing to the audience.......specifically "Watch how Harry talks about never see certain moves coming, and then he never sees it coming....."

you are right that is the only reason

The Seventh Seal. Ingmar Bergman. Arguably the most famous "Chess-As-Symbol" film. A crusade knight (Max Von Sydow) plays chess with death.

The Death character was parodied in Bill And Ted's Bogus Journey.
