Am I the only one confused by the ending? Obvious Spoiler Alert!

It seems that reviewers on here claim that Ross' character dies but doesn't his leg move back and he steps on the keys? Wouldn't that mean that he's still alive? I hate to sound foolish but I watched the scene three times. Just wonderin'. BTW: The Nickel Ride is a flawed but fascinating film. Jason Miller was a brilliant actor. Too bad he didn't have much of a career. You'd be hard pressed now to find any actor who exudes such moroseness and intensity. RIP Mr.Miller.

I think what happens is that the Victor French character, while tearfully hugging Cooper's corpse, simply lifts him up and then sets him down, his foot landing on the keys. Cooper's still dead at the end.

"What I don't understand is how we're going to stay alive this winter."

The film definitely did have a different tone up at the lake, but I very much like the fleshing out of the relationship between "Coop" and "Georgia."

I thought the dream sequence was nicely disturbing, and it is pretty heartbreaking before you realize it's a dream.
