Is Warren Beatty the Friend of Julie Christie at The Exit Inn?

In the scene with Haven and Connie White, there's a reference to Julie Christie needing to go to The Exit Inn to meet with "a friend." Is the friend Warren Beatty?

I'm not sure if they were still a couple at the time, but they were a couple for years. They were such a famous couple, even if they'd split up, people may still have believed they were getting back together.

I thought that it may have been a sly nod to Julie's "friend" at the hotel being one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood at the time without anyone figuring it out or even caring about who is being mentioned since the friend is not called by name. While some people didn't know who Julie was, they most definitely would have known who Warren Beatty was by name alone. He was as famous as Newman and Redford.

If it is supposed to be Warren, I think it's a great way to show the surreal nature of fame. If they'd said "Warren Beatty," it would have meant everything at that moment. Because they said "a friend," it meant absolutely nothing to everybody at that moment. Either way, it still would have been the same "star".

It's hard to imagine not knowing who Julie Christie was at that time, mid-70s. She won an Oscar, starred in a bunch of great films. She was an icon, her hair, the way she dressed, her attitude.

She didn't need to be on Beatty's arm for people to know who she was.
