i normally hate those 'reminds me of' threads, but...

I just saw this for the first time, and I could not help but think about John Cameron Mitchell's performance in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. They also bear a striking resemblance to each other (at least Hurt as a young man does).
As an American, I was astounded to find out that this aired on British television in 1975. In subject matter and tone, it also reminded me of Breakfast on Pluto, but I thought it was far better.
What a fantastic film, and so ahead of its time.
