I've got it. It's basic, but serviceable. It's NTSC 4:3 and plays fine on my region-free PAL/NTSC DVD player. Simple chapter selection, pretty good MPEG-2 encoding given the fairly ordinary condition of the original source material. No compression artifacts that I noticed, even in low-light and high-motion scenes. The colours are quite washed out and seem to have a strong blue-green cast but it's watchable. The sound is a bit distorted at times but generally you can hear what's going on. Watching it, you can't help but think of Peter Graves' amusing character in Airplane!, but here he's deadly serious, despite the dodgy sports jackets he sometimes wears. (But hey, it was the '70s.)

All in all, a fascinating little time capsule.
