MY TOP 15 FROM BEST TO WORST:
1) GODZILLA VS MOTHRA (1964) - classic in every way.
2) TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA (1975) - lots of great monster battles, pyrotechnics, and excellent score my Akira Ifukube
3) GODZILLA VS THE MONSTER ZERO (1965) - fun and very 60's with a splash of good sci fi, hurt only by goofy plotting and stock footage
4) GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN (1955) - I actually thought this was pretty good - somber tone, good effects, and lots of monster action right away
5) GODZILLA VS MECHAGODZILLA (1974) - fun music and effects and plenty of monster action for those who stick around through the awfully long singing section
6) GODZILLA (1954) - very grim and straight-faced, marred only by poor effects
7) KING KONG VS GODZILLA (1962) - very standard and colorful but the comedy and terrible Kong suit hurt it
8) GODZILLA VS THE SEA MONSTER (1966) - fun escapist entertainment in spite of low budget
9) DESTROY ALL MONSTERS (1968) - some good effects but the tone is all off
10) THE THREE HEADED MONSTER (1964) - great effects but limited monster action until the very end
11) GODZILLA VS HEDORA (1971) - terrible and awkward, yet entrancingly bizarre
12) SON OF GODZILLA (1967) - I didn't watch this until my late 20's, far too late to see the charm of this shark-jumping installment.
13) GODZILLA VS GIGAN (1972) - just one big stock footage fest and takes too long to get going
14) GODZILLA VS MEGALON (1973) - slow paced and cheap with awful music
15) GODZILLA'S REVENGE (1969) - ugghh, I hated this one even when I was 8.
