Scimitar VHS version?

I have found Scimitar's VHS release of Terror Of Mechagodzilla here in town. Anyone know which print is on this tape? It says it uses an original film print for better film quality. Sure. :) But, which version? Is it the Paramount VHS/Sony DVD version? Or the one that has the opening narration before a title card? I've seen that version once on local TV around 1986.

The scimitar vhs and DVD are a cut version that omits seveal scenes. The sony DVD is the same version. I dont know about the paramount vhs.

The Paramount VHS is the same as the Sony DVD. It is the same version as the Sci-Fi Channel's, too. The only version I've seen that was different was this one that aired on a local Saturday night 10:30 rerun circa 1985 that I one time had taped on Beta.

I'm lucky enough to have this on a dvd I ordered from Taiwan several years ago; it's unfortunately full-frame but is totally uncut and taken from a much better print than the Simitar or Sony versions. Those other guys are using the edited tv print, with the title in cheesy chyron-video lettering. The Taiwanese disc uses an immaculate print that begins with a real film title.

The opening fight, which is rendered incomprehensible by the editing in the tv print, is much longer and features a moment where Godzilla is hit in the neck by a ray and spews geysers of blood ala Monty Python before falling over. Lots of other scenes have been trimmed throughout the tv version.

The full version may still be available if you snoop around the net. Good luck.

was the one shown from around 1993/4 uk channel 4 the uncut one? i still have those. i was only six :O

Worth! You're lying.

The ones shown on C4 were the uncut versions & shown in 16:9 but not full Scope.
I am having a clear out of old VHS tapes and I found my recording of it. The recording I have is of a Godzilla Triple Bill that C4 showed one night & Terror was the last film shown.

I too have seen the Scimitar version. It's the edited 80 minute version. Several cuts were made to it to get a G rating.
