Unfortunately according to the Ezy DVD website, the new MAN FROM HONG KONG DVD will be in fullscreen, not like the previous 2001 Screen Sound Australia DVD release which was letterboxed (although not in the correct screen ratio of anamorphic widescreen) and it will have less extras than the previous DVD release with only the audio commentary by director Brian Trenchard Smith and the theatrical trailer but no featurettes about the film that the other DVD release had. So if you have the previous DVD release, hold on to it until a better one comes along.
Featurettes??? Gonna try track em down.

The two featurettes of THE MAN FROM HONG KONG that are only on the 2001 Screen Sound Australia DVD release are a five minutes featurette of Jimmy Wang Yu arriving in Australia for the making of The Man From Hong Kong and him meeting his co-stars George Lazenby, Rebecca Gilling and Rosalind Spiers as well as director Brian Trenchard Smith and the other feauturette which is also 5 minutes in length is about the world premiere of THE MAN FROM HONG KONG at Sidney, Australia in 1975 with George Lazenby, Grant Page, Rebecca Gilling, Brian Trenchard Smith and Hugh Keays Byrne in attendance at the screening. I hope that you are lucky in finding this out of print Australian DVD, but you might try EBAY.
They played the Screen Sound Australia disc at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival this year. To be honest (and with all respect to these events), I felt kind of cheated considering it's an Australian film and paying festival price to see DVD instead of a print is dodgy! AND on top of that it stuffed up halfway!. This is how I knew it was the SSA disc, as it says it at the start of the film and on the menu, which the audience all saw as the projectionist scanned through the menu to find the right chapter! And to think they had the balls to slam MIFF for their Ozploitation theme showing films released on DVD.
...anyway...
The Screen Sound disc is terrible, it's at 1.85:1, which means a lot of waving hands from the side of screen and voices out of nowhere throughout the dialogue scenes (they really try to show off the 2.35:1 in this film).
However, I've just been tipped off that Madman IS going to release it 2.35:1 as it now states that on their website.

Whether or not it's going to be anamorphic is another thing, but hey, it's better than nothing right?
