All jue to the bbfc. There are lots of films in the UK that are still unreleased and banned, due to the bbfc thinking that they shouldnt be watched by adults that can make their own decisions about weather they want to watch them or not. Unfortunately for some reason they can't do what they do in the US and put a warning on them, EG: Murder set Pieces - " warning there are scenes of graphic violence, graphic rape and graphic torture in this film ,. Viewer discretion is advised"

Surely that would be enough to stop anyone that didnt want to see those things watching the film. But it seems the grumpy old gits of the bbfc cannot comprehend this simplicity of just making sure the viewer knows what they are watching.

As 'acab5000' said, there are some cool films on the dpp39 list. Films like fight for your life, cannibal holocaust and house on the edge of the park, All great movies that were not supposed to be allowed to watch due to rubbish censorship laws.

Whilst they banned all the so called 'video nasties' in the 80s, almost all of them are now available on dvd in the UK and the BBFC does very little censorship these days. I would imagine that this one is till banned purely because no distributor has resubmitted it to the BBFC for reclassification for a dvd release.

It is most likely you are right. BBFC´s old cuts and banns are sometimes left as they were back in the eighties or early nineties just because no one re-submit them.

However there are still movies you cant release uncut in England such as Cannibal Holocaust, New York Ripper and Faces of Death. These versions are also prone to be confiscated by customs if you decide to import it from somewhere else.
