Wonder if Bob Hope saw this.

Probably not I think, but since Woody worships him and does him so well here, I wonder...

Did Bob Hope ever state anything about Woody's films? You would think that he must have been asked about him sometime considering that Woody was quite open about adoring him.

Around this time Allen edited a tribute piece for Hope. Both Hope and Allen mentioned it on TV interviews at the time. I think Hope did see this film and said "Well, Woody's just terrific, a terrific performer" or something like that. I recall Allen on Dick Cavett's show, both of them praising Hope's older work and decrying his political stance and more recent TV work.

This is Allen's most Bob Hope-esque film, so I think Hope would have enjoyed it a lot.

We know at least Groucho did love Woody's work and that's great praise.

I'm sure Hope liked what he saw, too.

Didn't you know Allen and Hope DID do a movie together... sort of:

Hmmm?

Other than certain character traits, I never got the Bob Hope thing. While Allen started as a joke writer, Hope famously didn't write anything he said.

and make every lover the love of my life
