Has anyone seen this movie?

Greetings to anyone who actually knows of this movies existence. I'd never heard of it until recently, but I was doing a bit of research into Hammer films (I'm kinda obsessed with them at the moment) and I noticed this movie, whilst not technically Hammer, is directed by Hammer cinematogropher and director Freddie Francis, written by Hammer screenwriter and producer Anthony Hinds and of course stars Hammer legend Peter Cushing.

I have improbably managed to find a copy on e-bay and it is on its way to me now, so my question is, is it any good? Bare in mind that you're talking to someone who really really really likes Hammer and will be delighted if this movie is even in the same league as the Hammer classics.

Well, looks like I'm talking to myself here. I have watched this now, so if anyone wants to contribute an opinion I'd be interested.

Glad to find I'm not the only one who knows about this film. Not exactly up to the standards of a Hammer film, but a decent cast and make-up job (even if the transformation FX were old hat) make this a decent werewolf film. I especially like, in the finale in the sewars, where Peter Cushing tries to gain the werewolf's confidence by putting his pistol away.

i remember seing it as a kid , the intro scared me , the run through the forest , well i think thats how it started - i would prob watch it again for the old school factor , tho it was apparent to me even when 8 years old that the movie was all that good - any scene in sewers freaks me out a bit !!

btw flanders liking the sleater kinney ref

Sure have, SF. This is actually one of my favorites from when I was a teenager and had this on VHS. At the time, I just assumed it was a Hammer film since Cushing was in it. This is blasphemy in some circles, but I actually prefer it to Curse of the Werewolf with Oliver Reed. Not that Curse isn't great, but... There's just something about Legend... The sliminess of the Zookeeper, the actress playing Christine was so gorgeous, the fx were pretty damn good, you actually SEE the werewolf for more than the last ten minutes of the movie... I recently found a boot dvd and though not perfect, made yesterday (Halloween) just a little cooler. Cheers!

It's only my opinion. Climb down.

Yeah, I've seen it a couple of times. It used to be shown on TV in the UK quite frequently back in the 80s. It was also given a video release in the UK in the 90s on the 'Taste of Fear' label. It's a pretty good werewolf flick if you like British Hammer horror-type movies from the 70s.
