No attractive people in this movie

Anyone noticed? Wonder if it was intentional

reply

Well, there's the cute teens on the beach in the first scene, all white good-looking preppy types.

I find both Hooper and Brody to be attractive in their way, although I know that I won't get a lot of support there, and Mrs. Brody has the MILF thing going on. But other than that, I think it was intentional, it's supposed to be a story about totally ordinary people, with the actual population of Martha's Vinyard as the townspeople, rather than Hollywood wannabes with perfect hair and nose jobs.

reply

Most people in real life aren't attractive. Have you noticed?

reply

I would say that most young people are moderately attractive. And then you have individuals who fall on either side of that line.

reply

Only 10 percent of the population is dateable. Seinfeld taught us that.

and don't ever check out babes at the DMV!! It's a leper colony down there!!

reply

"I would say that most young people are moderately attractive."

REAL CREEPY THERE,GUY.

reply

You then think that most people are more attractive in their middle and senior years?

Not sure I would call that creepy but it's . . . something.

reply

As Jerry Seinfeld said, "Have you ever been to the Motor Vehicle Dept? It looks like a leper colony!" 😲

reply

Christie Watkins was hawt. Brody’s wife was pretty sexy aswell, I can totally see why Hooper would have wanted to rekindle their romp sessions again.

reply

Hooper drives the boat Chief

reply

Only in the book. I liked that Spielberg and Gottlieb removed that subplot.

reply

I haven't read the book, but it sounded like the characters were generally a lot less likeable. Maybe one of those cases where the movie was actually better than the book.

reply

The shark was pretty sexy though.

reply

The girls who yells shark ,when Bruce was going in the pond area

reply

^ was gonna say the same thing.
that chick was smokin'

damn. sad story for her..
couldn't breakthrough etc

guess she can always point to that scene and be like "look kids there's ma!"

reply

so the bimbo tried to use him as a stepping stone? Typical...

reply

Lorraine Gary was objectively attractive. I didn't think of her one way or the other when I was younger, but I'm older now and I can see that Ellen Brody was an attractive woman. Not in a superficial model kind of way, but in a very real, very natural way.

reply

I’m a Roy Scheider fan and did not like their choice of Lorraine Gray for his wife…her husband was at that time big in the business and probably young Spielberg had to go along with that. Not on a par with him attractive wise.

reply

Yeah. I thought she was a nice looking middle aged woman. Not a knock out or anything, but most people aren't.

There were some lookers in smaller roles, like the college age gals at the beginning of the movie.

reply

It depends on what you consider attractive. Remember that beauty is in the eye of the
beholder.

reply

They made the movie for adults, no horny stupid teenagers running around. If you want that, then maybe Jaws 2 is more to your liking...
