Really, is that or was it possible for Quint to make a living at shark fishing? Is there any commercial use for dead sharks? Has anyone on Amity ever offered a shark bounty before? Do sport fisherman pay to be taken out to fish for sharks?

Back in the day they did. I chartered a shark expedition on Frank Mundus’ Boat back in the late 70s. Mundus was the inspiration for the Quint character. He made a great living taking charters on fishing shark trips

Of course, there are also "Finning" expeditions where they chop off the fin for soup and throw the shark back sometimes while it's still alive. Totally illegal I believe.
