Reasons to watch

First of all, George Hamilton's Playboy-esque bachelor pad. (At about 0:35) It's incredible. I've never seen a better one on film. The set designers went all out. Unfortunately it's not on screen long enough.

Second is the hilariously overproduced "disco" and "rock" music (we get only a few seconds of each, sadly.) Third is Conway's vee-neck tee showing through his sheer polyester turtleneck sweater. So tacky and goofy looking!

And to the earlier poster who said Janssen can't act, I say wrong-o; he was the only one I found truly convincing, dramatically speaking. (Besides Kirk, of course, who can out act anyone else in his sleep. This role barely required him to shift into second.)

It does have camp appeal. Alexis Smith as a lesbian is kind of fun to watch. This movie tried hard to be sleazy but it's slick production kept it from looking too tawdry.

Movies like this are fun to watch now as I can't really stomach what Hollywood churns out now, a bunch of computer generated crap aimed at 13 year olds. Give me a good trash wallow like this with great old Hollywood stars anyday.

Another reason to watch this film is the badly miscast Melina Mercouri. She was playing a Garbo-like recluse but was her usual I'm-such-an-irrisistable-Euro-temptress while flashing those teeth...

Alexis Smith was brave to take her part and was quite good.

Am I the only one to think that Deborah Raffin was good in the film? She was much better than I expected, gave a consistant performance despite the script and was so beautiful!

Gary Conway was wasted and yes, I did love his tee showing through his turtleneck!

Poor Guy Green, the director. First "the Magus"and then this! Both films star a beautiful young blonde but Deborah Raffin could act and Candice Bergen was terribly stiff yet Bergen had a career in films and Raffin went nowhere. Was it because of this film.
Was it a flop at the time?

Wrong-o on the bachelor pad. I think whoever designed it is the same person who did Graceland. TACKY!
