Why did that production of “Richard III” flop?

Tremendous medieval Japanese costumes, inspired casting of one huge star Klaus Kinski as the hunchback King and, once she got into her stride, impassioned diction and acting from the other superstar Romy Schneider. The newspaper critic was an idiot: it should have run for months!

It was 'dark and excessive' with Nadine summarily dismissed because she was a porn actress and the reviewer had old bones to pick with Zimmer. The costumes looked amazing and I'm sure that Zimmer/Kinski would have mesmerised as Richard III.
