Pink Panther Foul Play knockoff

And very corny. But still, even so, somewhat humorous... And some candid performances that aren't completely awful, either...

I liked it, for the most part.... About half way thru, it started getting monantanus... But I didn't think it was as bad as all the reviewers made it out to be....

Trust me,

I didn't see anything resembling Pink Panther or Foul Play in this, but the close ups of the killers feet as he's stalking & the close ups of his hands while he was having trouble putting on the gloves reminded me of Mickey Rose's later Student Bodies.

reply

oh yeah? well, that's just, like, your opinion, dude.

reply

Yes it is. What's your point?

Did this actually play in theaters in 1975? I just bought this on DVD for a buck, and it looks much older.

reply

The opening credits are very much in the style of the Pink Panther films and it has been rumored that Peter Sellers was considered for the lead role. I'm not sure if I believe that, but Sellers hadn't yet made his comeback with "The Return of The Pink Panther," so, that might have been possible. The comparison to "Foul Play" is unfounded, however, since that film was made three years later.

I've just watched the film, and you're right about the opening credits having a distinct Pink Panther vibe – as does the rest of the film. Whether or not it's true, I could see the lead role being offered to Peter Sellers.

Did this film have a very wide release in 1975? It looks and feels a bit older, like it was on the shelf for a while. Apparently this is in the public domain now, so there are cheapo copies out there for anyone who cares to see this. Adding to the confusion: The cover art of my DVD has two actors who aren't in the film.

It's not a horrible movie, but it's not horribly funny either. 6/10 stars from me.

It's a knockoff of Foul Play? Did the makers of I Wonder Who's Killing Her Now use a time machine?

I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.
