What did they give the baby to keep it from crying?

In the movie, they smuggeled a baby. What did they give the baby to keep it from crying?

reply

I think it was some sort of hard liquor.

I thought it was Chloroform =S At least thats what our teacher told us xD

I think they gave the baby some sort of liquor. Everyone who was watching it in my house at the time goes, "Well, now the baby's drunk.."

reply

I don't know, I saw it last night and it looked like they just dabbed something for the baby to inhale so it would sleep. Granted I wasn't paying much attention but it didn't look like the baby was drinking anything.

It was some form of hard liquor, in a very moderated dose of course. This was a common practice, albeit not a very popular one as with Corrie's response to the event expresses.

Some sort of liquor. Some people use it when a baby is teething, it numbs the gums a bit sort of like using anbesol or something.

reply

Ok, I must be weird. Did no one here every have their Grandma make them a hot toddy when they had a cold? Or as was also mentioned, used alcohol on a baby's gums for teething?

reply

It may have been paragoric, which used to be given to babies to help them sleep. It was put in the babies pacifier.
