Lovely little film

I wish that the success of this film had opened up more movies that were slices of American life from a woman's perspective. Hester Street made money, received a great deal of critical acclaim yet didn't spawn more features about the immigrant experience. It would have been interesting to see a feature film about the Triangle fire or the labor movement in the early 20th century.
