Just a few more notes on Vaszquez Rocks, one of Hollywood's favorite location sites. The Rocks are about 30 miles north of Hollywood and a part of LA County's Park and Recreation Dep't. Productions pay a minimal fee per-day to use the site. Also, my understanding is that productions don't have to pay heavier location expenses for cast and crew if the site is within 50 miles of LA. Thus, there have been tangible incentives to use the Rocks over the years, and of course their distinctive "flatiron" appearance has turned up in hundreds of films, especially Westerns and sci-fi's. Fortunately, there are now strict ecological rules governing the site so that the distinctive appearance can be preserved in the face of steady urban expansion.

Can anyone name a few films these rocks have appeared in?
I'll start with two easy ones:
Kirk (Start Trek) fights the lizard creature there,
and Johnny 5 (Short Circuit) gets a joke there.

Superman visited there in the Adventures of Superman episode "Panic In The Sky".

Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey

That's where the evil robot doubles dispose of Bill and Ted.

I think they use the less-familiar approach to the site in episodes of "Laredo" TV series and perhaps in one episode of "The Big Valley" TV series. I've been meaning to jot down in my movie journal whenever I spot them but keep forgetting to do so.
