Did Nick Dimitri's character Street know somebody would get killed if he (Street) won the last fight?

It was my impression that Speed would be harmed only if Chaney didn't show up to fight Street.

To me, it seemed like Street didn't care about Speed one way or another. He was being paid to participate in a certain fight. Street's involvement began and ended with the fight against Chaney.
