If I was to rate this one

I would rate Three Musketeers in this order:

1. 1948 with Gene Kelly,(Most memorable)

2. 1993 with Chris O'Donnell, better supporting cast (humor was outstanding

3. 1973-4 with Michael York,... (thought they over did this a bit)

4. The rest of them

Oh come on, you can like the Gene Kelly version if you like, although I don't care for it because it races through the book too quickly, but placing this below the 1993 Disney abomination which had nothing to do with the novel by Alexandre Dumas other than the title and the names of the characters?

Totally agree on the fact that Disney didn't follow the book, but at that time everybody was putting their own spin on famous stories when they were producing remakes. I just thought it was much more enjoyable. When I watched the 1974 version, everything just seemed to drag on and I found some of the characters quite boring or uninteresting (just my opinion). The Gene Kelly version was less offensive, because they didn't want to upset the Church and made Richelieu a minister.
