The best move of all time!

Female Trouble really is in my opinion. for those who "get it," and that's not being pretentious, it's just the truth. There is no middle ground, you love it or hate it. No one ever says "oh it was ok."

I agree. It's my all time favorite. I wouldn't say it's the best movie ever made, but it's the one I love most, hands down. There's nothing else as funny.

I wish I could get people to consider my comments on my So wholesome thread (on the last page of threads for this film). It's my attempt to understand why this film is so special for me.

Several years ago I heard Waters say this is the favorite film of his real fans, as opposed to those who just want to watch a gross-out film (Pink Flamingos) on a lark.

I agree as well--it is for those who "get it". John Water's (and Divine's) Best Film--Hands Down.

Actually, as I've seen more of Waters' films, I've kind of had to back away from my impression that he's a genius, based on this film. Cry Baby and Pink Flamingos are just not in the same league as this. The dialogue in this film is generally so brilliantly funny. A lot of people can recite almost the whole film from memory. I doubt that any other Waters film is like that.

It almost makes me wonder if Female Trouble included all of the funny things he'd been thinking of since he was a child: as if he'd saved up all this funny stuff and put it together in this film. Hairspray and Polyester are really funny to me, too, though not quite at FT's level. Cry Baby was done rather quickly after Hairspray, and I wonder if Waters' films' quality suffers when he tries to do them in quick succession.

Yea, this is probably my favorite, with Pink Flamingos second. People, don't forget--the dog *beep* eating scene in Pink Flamingos was tacked on in the end; it really doesn't have anything to do with the movie. As for Female Trouble, I nearly laughed myself out of bed last night when the whole--Mink Stole, "you are retarted" scene came on. Damn, I love John Waters movies.

Clearly my favorite Waters film. It's a classic.
