Ugh

Listened to the commentary on "F for Fake" and I have to admit that Oja Kodar is probably the most annoying woman I have ever heard. Her stories are filled with coat tail riding, and her sentimental anecdotes about Welles. There's no humanity in her retelling. She seems so shallow. What is she doing in this film? It's obvious that Welles was banging her and there you go. I swear if I have to watch her walk by the camera in slow motion one more time that I'm going to vomit. What a social climbing...yechh.

i havent listend to the commentary but man you said it, some of those scenes of oja walking down the street seemed to last much too long.

I thought she was absolutely gorgeous. An extremely attractive woman. As I went to IMDB, I saw she was credited as herself, but that there wasn't much to know from what films she played in.

An easy search on the internet, gave me results on wikipedia. And for once, the little that stood about her on the page, told me exactly what I needed to know.

Who else speaks on the commentary? Is it just her? I thought Rosenbaum or Bogdanovich recorded a commentary track. Anyone know anything about this?

Yes, she's pretty - but is she smart?

What's the Spanish for drunken bum?

reply

She's not even that pretty, but she's got a great body and doesn't mind sleeping with an old fat man 26 years older than her. Did Orson Welles really come up with the idea of this mediocre documentary alone? How much was influenced by his stupid girlfriend? A third of it is about her, first showing her around, then making up a pointless story, finally doing a bit of both. He should have just banged her and kept it at that, frankly.

There might be situations that are more annoying than besotted old men but none come to mind at the moment. It occurred to me that since he went to the trouble of renaming her, "Oja Alexander" would've been more appropriate under the circumstances.

Yet another example that Citizen Kane was actually Welles pre autobiography.

I guess life really DOES imitate art.
