DVD and books

The DVD of the series is available from www.play.com. The books, by David Butler, are well worth a ready if you can track them down - they're out of print.

Now I just want the other David Butler series - Disraeli and Lillie, also ATV series in the 1970s - to come out on DVD!

We recently got a video box set, issued by Carlton, from sendit.com. There are 4 videos comprising 13 episodes.

Timothy West was superb, best thing he's ever done in my opinion.

They don't make drama like this anymore.

I completely agree!

I'd never heard of this drama till a few months ago so immediately purchased it and loved it! One of the best dramas made by the BBC. The acting was superb and they included numerous characters, resulting in little oversight of major events.

"Edward the Seventh" is absolutely superb. I first saw it in the summer of 1976 when it aired on CBC in Toronto. I never forgot it, and wished it would be repeated. Several years ago, I purchased the DVD set and it is every bit as wonderful as I remember it. Superfluous performances, wonderful writing, music, sets, costumes ... just perfect. All of the principal actors give impeccable performances, very difficult to imagine anyone else playing these roles. Thank goodness this mini-series was made available on DVD, else I doubt I would ever have had the opportunity to enjoy it again.
