Gordon Willis & Tony Franciosa

First time I've seen this film. Really enjoyed it.

Very impressed with the cinematography. Just a really rich & beautiful looking film (as one would expect from Willis).

Newman was great in this. Supporting players were all top notch.

But I was really surprised and impressed with just how good Tony Franciosa was. I've seen him in a lot of stuff over the years. He is one of those solid actors who always delivers... but I thought he was exceptional in this film. I really felt his pain. And the last scene with Melanie Griffith was shocking and powerful.

And of course the "Drowning Pool" scene and it's conclusion was great. Old school filmmaking and special FX. Can't beat it!

I think I agree with some other posters that this is a better film than Harper. I liked Harper but this one just seemed to have more going for it.

Thanks TCM.
