boom mikes?

Has anybody ever counted how many times boom mikes are visable in this movie? It has to be somewhere in the 30's or something...

reply

Seemed to me you either see a boom or a bounce board in every shot.

reply

i think it's because they didn't put the 16:9 matte on the print.

reply

Just adds to the fun!!

It has nothing to do with 16:9, it's 35mm film so the ratio is either 1.33 or 1.85 and the boom would appear in either case. It's just possible the boom operator was very enthusiastic and the camera op was either incompetent or didn't realize that he was slipping past the safety zone repeatedly. Hell, there's shots with the boom operator HIMSELF in the frame or it would appear in the middle of a close-up. The world's most incompetent camera operator mixed in with the world's most eager boom operator make for a very bad combination.

You see the boom mike so many times, it should get a co-starring credit.

reply

Surely this was a piss take though?

I thought the boom mic 'character' (hahaha) was great, but it was as ridiculous as some of the kung fu scenes.

Don't take this film too seriously!

The editing ROCKS!! ha ha ha ha.

I liked the shot in the parking lot where you don't just see the mic boom, you see the guy with the headphones holding it. Too amazing, that's one I'd really never seen before.

reply

Saw it last night on Bounce.

Didn't watch the whole movie but I saw a couple of instances where that happened.

Can't believe it.

I've seen these things in some TV shows but it looks more weird in these dramatic movies or TV shows.
