That would never happen today?

I noticed the crowd was so close to the bank and causing trouble. And I wonder if they really were that close to the bank's front door. Or was that just to make the movie look better. Today the crowd would never get that close.

If they really were that close I don't know what the cops were thinking.

Today they would shut down the whole block and a few blocks in every direction with barriers and cop cars. The same would probably have happened in the 1970s, too.
