shareThe Affordable Care Act (otherwise known as "obamacare") isn't an insurance policy. It's a set of laws and guidelines that hold health insurance companies responsible. As to whether individual health insurance companies cover sex change surgeries, that is still in contention.
ACA is just a a system to get people insured through private insurance companies.

And no it isn't a system that gets people insurance. Insurance gets people insurance. Obamacare mandates that they do, and it mandates that they cover specific things like transgender.
Obamacare, know by the naive as the "Affordable Care Act", is a form of government meddling in private business that drove up health care insurance costs. The day this "affordable" act took effect my premiums and copayments more than doubled, and my deductible went from $400 to $2500. The doctor I went to wouldn't take my insurance anymore so I had to find a different doctor. Exams and procedures that were previously covered were no longer covered. I'm so glad my higher costs under Obamacare are helping to pay for mentally ill people's transgender operations. Thanks obama!
