gore???

what gore is there in this film?

reply

lol............. you have to see it.

It's just so outrageous and hilarious. You see a couple male victims get their privates ramed with the sharp End of Sly's car and get tire burned to hell. It's almost a miracle that this film didn't get tagged with an "NC 17" rating.

There basically isn't a whole lot of gore, it's more like red paint being splattered around. Deaths look VERY fake; you don't even really see actual deaths, it's more like some follow-up shots from different angles which make you assume someone died. Followed by some red paint and a body lying on the streets. It's not gory at all. Think of it as some bad parody on what this movie could have been.

you gotta admit though, That one dude whose head got ran over was pretty ugly.

Didn't remember that one, but I watched it again last night, and yup, it was somewhat ugly ^^, altho it's just a fraction of a second. I played it ultra-slowly, 1/16th of normal speed, and I still could have missed it when blinking. The other 'gore'; car running over a man's legs, car with big knife on front running down a man, cutting him down between the legs, a man getting run over in the water whereafter some blood runs down the water, man getting a big *ss stake through his body. It's basically pretty fake, though. Just fun to watch.

But you gotta remember this was also the 70s that was gore back then.

reply

By today's standards at least, this isn't very gory at all. I could have sworn that other 70s movies did it better, but maybe it's because overall the quality of other 70s films that I liked seemed greater overall. There was no quality in this film, from the acting to the special effects, it was at best "cheezY' and "campy."

they didn't HAVE the NC-17 rating back in '75! SHEESH!

reply

Sorry, but the only "DUMBFUK" here is you. They had an X rating which was exactly the same thing.

And about the movie, the gore is not very frequent, and when it does occur it looks extremely cheesy. BUT they are some of the funniest gore scenes ever - I almost died laughing when that guy's crotch got jammed under the wheel of Sly's car!

Yes. X evolved into NC-17 more because of the "adult film" industry than anything else. Checkout http://www.mpaa.org/movieratings/about/content2.htm for a little history.
