Interesting parallels to Scorsese films (SPOILERS)

Not only does this film team up Joe Pesci with his favorite punching bag, Frank Vincent for the first time, but it also includes scenes where (1) a character is wacked and his corpse left to freeze in an ice maker (ala Goodfellas), and (2) another character is beaten to death with bats in a wheat field (Casino). Makes you wonder if the director had "inside information".

Yeah, they're dead; they're all messed up...

is frank vincents character related to the baseball bat beating in any way?

This movie really has the FEEL of a Scorcese film in that their is violence mixed in with humor. Some of the scenes really seem close to Scorcese's stuff. For example throwing the peanuts at the piano player could be right out of GOODFELLAS.

Yes--but not directly. Also, I've just seen the movie again recently, and I was mistaken on one aspect: there is no baseball bat involved in the cornfield whacking--just an old-fashioned handgun.

Yeah, they're dead, they're--all messed up.
