Met the real Ramiro "Ray" Martinez

He lives in my town, and volunteers at the annual library book sale every October. He's mostly bald now, and wears a blue volunteer shirt with a name tag. I am a shy person, but one year, I managed to talk to him and told him I had read his book, and thanked him for his service. He seemed quiet on the subject, but he seemed grateful to have someone talk to him about it (this was several years ago, so I don't remember exactly what I said to him). I didn't mention this movie to him, as I heard he was unhappy with the way it portrayed his wife, who is actually a blond, white woman of German ancestry. It's cool to have a person of some historical significance hanging around. Astronaut Charles Duke also lives in town, but I never met him.
