John Schlesinger

A great book about Hollywood is Rupert Everett's new book, and in it he writes about John Schlesinger who was a friend. Lots of fascinating movie trivia is included. The movie's opening scene's apartment building in LA where Tod and Faye lived is evidently still in use, albeit as a crack den (at least when John S. and Rupert Everett visited it in the late nineties). One of the locations -- the producer's house -- is a Frank Lloyd Wright house which is in danger of being razed. Also, after learning more about John S., I enjoyed the addition of the female impersonator singing in the nightclub scene!

The voice (i don't know about the onscreen performer) of the female impersonator is PAUL JABARA, who wrote disco tunes for DONNA SUMMER.

Sadly, Paul died of AIDS in the 80s.

"Don't call me 'honey', mac."
"Don't call me 'mac'... HONEY!"

A different thread states that the apartment building was built inside a soundstage so perhaps Everett had bad information.
