Did anyone notice a young Robert Townsend?

My boyfriend and I watched this movie for the umpteenth time last night and we just noticed that a young Robert Townsend is in this movie. He is in the gym scene toward the mid end saying how Stone and Robert are going to kick Cochise and Preach's ass. Of all the times that I have seen this wonderful movie this is indeed the first time that I noticed him. Little shorts and all.

reply

Yep, I saw him.

I believe it was his first movie role.

reply

I first found out about his appearence in this movie from one of Roger Ebert's book's. And at that time, ive already seen "Cooley High" a bunch of times.

reply

Sure did, and, this was Robert Townsend's first movie role.

I just saw the movie for the first time last night on AMC and he is the first guy I noticed in the gym scene. I told my husband look at Robert Townsend!! OMG he is so young. The movie is so hilarious at times. I cried when Cochise died.

THERE IS NO BETTER LOVE!

He's not credited for the role, so he was an extra.

Apparently, he was also an extra (along with Keenen Ivory Wayans) in the Warriors.

reply

I think the rule they use for credits is if a person has a real speaking role. Extras talking to make background sound don't usually count. I think the speaking role deal also affects the pay scale.
