Cynthia Davis Is ALIVE!

Unsung Hollywood "Cooley High' - GOT IT WRONG! Cynthia Davis a.k.a. "Brenda" is alive and well. Maybe my sister should sue TVOne for misinformation since what was said has been made available to the world.

Okay.... i'll bite.

What's your Facebook info/address?

And here's the email of an Associate Producer from Tv One (got it from another website): [email protected] (Associate Producer - as of Dec. 2013). Or write to the producers:

Let them know your sister is still alive, I believe (IF you're serious and she's alive) they would love to interview her!

reply

Yes we are serious that is a picture of her taken last week. email me [email protected]. I will send an email to the link you provided. let's see what happens.

reply

I guess I should say, why would I play around, this is serious! TVOne investigative team did not do their job. When I saw the episode I was shocked and upset that they found Eric Monte and Cocheez (spelling?) girlfriend and not preaches. I was told that they still receive some type of residual checks all they had to do was to check and see where her check was going. So yeah my sisters and I are serious.

Hello,

I sent my email to you (personal message). Do you mind if I ask a few questions?

- Can you tell us who you are?

- And how is Cynthia (I bet the last name has changed) doing?

- Did she try to pursue an acting career? If not, why?

- Has she kept in contact with any of the cast members from the movie?

My name is Cindy Moore and Cynthia Davis is my sister (well we share the same father).

Cynthia is doing fine. Our sister Lisa will be posting a video to youtube of an interview with Cynthia answering some of your questions and others to let people know that she is alive and well. She lives in Grand Haven, Michigan with her daughter Samantha.

Cynthia Davis was only 17 years old when she did Cooley High after which she tried to continue her acting career. She was offered one of the roles in Sparkle but her manager at the time did not have her best interest at heart and because he wanted more money they did not accept her. Her manager and ex-husband Lionel Smith we both responsible for her professional and emotional demise.

When she lived in California she was in contact with both Glen and Lawrence but soon lost contact after leaving and returning home.

After viewing Unsung Hollywood "Cooley High" my sister and I were upset at the fact that she was aid to be "no longer with us". We fell the investigators, or whoever looked for the actors from this movie did not do their job. I emailed the producer you gave me and she stated that they had a difficult time finding her. She is still receiving residual checks and to me it is not hard to follow a paper trail.

Mighty funny how one producer I talked to said they did not state a fact and that they had a hard time finding her. they said their statement was a general one since they were not 100% sure. The director was told she was dead, I want to know who told him that.

Amen! That's what I am saying.

Thanks for the info Cindy!

Now i'm assuming everything's kosher here, and I do have plenty more questions for you to ask her (if you don't mind):

- Where was she born? And what was it like in Chicago (if she grew up there)?

- What is her ethnic background (she doesn't have to answer that if she feels that's too personal)?

- What schools did she go to?

- Was she popular in school? (I bet the guys were fans/groupies before the movie!)

- Was it a close knit family?

- What was the experience like while making the film? Good, Bad or just okay?

- What was it like filming the love scene (at 17!?), was she nervous? Was it awkward? Also, for the love scene, was that her or did they use a "body double"?

- Does she have any funny or memorable stories to tell, things that happened while making the movie? Incidents/stories that happened on/off the set?

- When Cooley High comes on TV, does she watch it? What does she think of her performance?

- Does she have a favorite scene in the movie?

- What's her reaction to Cooley High becoming a cult film and still admired and watched by many, going on 40 years?

- Did she have a crush on (or really fond of) any of the actors?

- Although it's not shown that much on TV now, I do remember Cooley High being shown frequently back in the 70's and 80s. How was it for her back in those days? Did it get crazy (in terms of the fans)? Did she need to walk with family or bodyguards back in those days?

- You posted: "....Her manager and ex-husband....[were] both responsible for her professional and 'emotional demise'". If I may ask: what do you mean by "emotional demise"?

- Did she get recognized when the movie came out (and now)? If so, how does she react to it/feel about it?

- Does she have family members who are also fans of the film? I bet the family reunions are great!

Cindy, could you email me and post the YouTube interview link here (on this board) when it's done? I'm on that site a lot (hence my ID name).

Is there a set date for this?

Anyone verify this? If so I am glad she is alive and well. If not .... not a good joke, though this is the internet

According to the documentary "Unsung Hollywood, Cooley High" (which I just seen on cable tv) on (channel) TV One, according to Michael Schultz, he says he heard ten years ago she (Cynthia Davis) has past away and he isn't sure of the circumstance (of how or what was the nature of her death).

Again in the documentary "Unsung Hollywood, Cooley High" Michael Schultz said he heard rumors ten years ago (back ago) that she (Cynthis Davis) has past away ...

Well I'm glad to hear she is still alive but I got a question? Why haven't Cynthia Davis continue her acting career? Did she wasn't getting any calls for roles in plays, theaters, acting, doing commercials or movies?

My facebook username is homelesperan or my real name is Homere Lesperance, look me up at facebook so we can discuss about this!

Please stop discussing my sister. She is not happy with the invasion of privacy. I apologize for creating the original post but I was just trying to get Unsung to fix their mistake.

reply

How can you tell people to stop discussing your "sister", when you began the whole conversation in the first place? When you create a post like this, you should have expected questions and should have been prepared to give proper anwsers. If you didn't want Her privacy invaded, you shouldn't have said anything beyond the fact that She isn't dead.

reply

Maybe you didn't read the last part, she was trying to make it clear to people that she is not dead.

reply

Why would they say she was dead if that's not true??? That was so sad when I found that out. If it's not true, she needs to be more vocal. Don't the cast members know she's still alive?? Why would they say she isn't? That was wrong. If that's really here (not saying it isn't her) what is she doing now and why wasn't she on the "Unsung Hollywood" episode or been in touch with anyone. How did they make up in their minds that she's dead and she isn't.

reply

Is she alive or not????? This thread keeps going back and forth. I think only the real Cynthia Davis can settle this one.
