I didn't think he was that great. Thank God he finally got a chance to shine in Rocky. He was great in Rocky and deserved the Academy Award nomination he got. I think DeNiro should've won that year, but Stallone would've been my second choice. Stallone was able to pull you in and get you to feel for this guy and love him. When actors playing the villains do the oppsosite, they're performances are praised. What Sly did was just as great in Rocky. He was once called the next Brando. Too bad that never happened. But there's always Rocky. I thought he was great in First Blood also. Roger Ebert said Stallone was great at acting with his eyes. I couldn't agree more. I don't know if it was the script or what, but Stallone was mediocre at best as Nitti.
