The real pilot

... the movie is based on was Roger Hershner. I knew Roger when I was working in the forest industry in Forks, Wa. In the early 1980s. He flew a Hiller slinging cedar bolts for the shake and shingle industry. He gave me heli-rides from time to time and was a very nice man. Sadly, he died 3/8/14 in a crash 40 miles north of Wichta, Ks. In a Bell 206.
