what am I, chopped liver?

he was after he ran into the propeller....I wondered if that horrific scene was restored to the DVD, as it seemed to be excised from all subsequent TV prints, and perhaps later theatrical prints as well....too gross?

reply

WEll, I've just purchased the dvd. Having not seen this movie yet, I do not know what scene you are talking about but when I watch it I will post back and let you know.

Ha ha charade you are!

he runs into the propeller and about 80 pieces of his body go flying into the air....really wild even by today's standards

reply

Oh yes, it was in there. I kept looking for it wondering when the hell it was going to happen and finally, at the end, there it was. I wish that I would have seen that scene a couple of weeks ago. I made a Movie Montage that I put up on youtube and in it I used a lot of violent/bloody scenes from various movies. That would have fit nicely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OFZgnAU0Zo Watch it if you like!

Cheers.

Also, I posted this particular scene that you were talking about on youtube.

Hey, thanks for posting those! Great job with that montage. I left some comments on the YouTube site. Normally I'm repulsed by violence, but it's impossible to ignore the power of violence in film when it's done effectively, and the Pink Floyd accompaniment is extremely effective. Shine on, you crazy rectangle!

reply

Thanks for watching. The Pink Floyd was definitely a good choice for the video. I appreciate the kind words and hopefully I can come up with some more good video ideas.

Sure thing. One film I'd definitely recommend is "Rolling Thunder." It has a grisly scene of a guy losing his arm in a garbage disposal, then another memorable scene of him applying his prosthetic hook to a guy's crotch. It's not available on DVD, unfortunately. I have it on VHS but don't yet have the ability to upload a clip.

And "Midnight Express" has a couple of gruesome scenes, one involving a man losing his tongue, and the other of a guy's head being slammed into a hook.

It's not like I seek scenes like this out. They just stay on my mind long after seeing them!

reply

Sounds good to me! Haha.....I'll see if I can locate those movies online. Thanks.

"The Evil That Men Do" and "In Hell" have also great violence

It was on telly tonight, and the scene was there. Kinda suprised me. I could see it coming, his death that is, but I thought they'd cop out and just have a shot of Bronson being sprayed with his blood.

That scene could easily pass for a real death.

reply

I think the part where his feet are attached to the runway, and his legs stay standing up might shoot down the "reality" of it a bit.

reply

Ha. Yeah, it would have been much more gory if it hadn't looked so staged.
Instead it looks like a mannequin getting decapitated.

I found it ridiculous that the pilots of the oncoming plane were none the wiser over two guys duking it out on the runway right in front of them.

"Cristal, Beluga, Wolfgang Puckā€¦ It's a f#@k house."

reply

It's an incredible scene; I wasn't prepared to see the body actually get chopped up.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

reply

Hahah! Yeah, just watched last night on dvd (never saw it before) & was definitely more than a little shocked. (after exclaiming/ laughing out loud) I don't think any other Bronson movie went that far with gore.

reply

It's hard to believe this movie is rated PG with that surprisingly gory scene and the nudity as well. The ratings system has definitely become more conservative. This movie would definitely be Rated R today.
