Where Did the Calvary Come From? (Spoiler)

Spoiler

Gee, this ending defines calvary to the rescue, but weren't they all dead or defeated? They sure seemed to show up at the right time looking pretty strong and with more men then the gang? How did they get the memo that Charles Bronson was blowing up the tracks?

This was an odd movie, like an Agatha Christie "murder mystery on a train" movie. If you didn't know the plot it would have been even more mysterious.

But how is it that the criminal killer dude is eating at the Governors table during the whole movie? That's like the oddest disconnect in a film I could ever remember.

I enjoyed watching this movie but now I want to see a real western themed movie like McCabe and Mrs Miller.

I thought it was Ed Lauter who rescued the cavalry while Bronson dealt with the train action. I was under the impression that they mentioned this -- but didn't show it. Have to see the movie again, it's been years. Great film.
