filmed in Chicago

At the time of this film, the first Richard Daley was mayor of Chicago. After the 1968 Democratic convention he did not like the way the city was protrayed by the media so he did not allow movies to be filmed here. he allowed the opening of "Brannigan," because he considered, as he put it, John Wayne to be a "good American."

Well, they made up for it with Blues Brothers and all the rest. The counterfeiter's hideout was located over by Canal & Kinzie (note raised railroad bridge in background), now blossoming with overpriced condos.

That UNIROYAL sign on the sign of the brick building has appeared in SO many movies, because it's right by the river and that upraised bridge. I used to walk past it on the way to work.
