when is the US dvd going to be released

I just saw Black Moon on Flix and was wondering if any companies had any plans of releasing it on DVD. It was way to well done not to already be on dvd in the US.

100% agree. This deserves to be put onto DVD by the likes of Criterion. What's the hold-up here? It is one of the most beautifully shot films of the '70s and has a cult status going for it...please please please we need this film given a proper DVD release!

There are other Malle films deserving of a DVD release more than this mess.Fire Within,Zazie Sans de Metro. This is his worst film-Crackers was pretty bad too.Everything else he made is worth seeing.

i just checked net flix..it doesnt show up.

criterion would be great for this film.

Criterion will be releasing this film, along with "My Dinner with Andre." Be patient. Hold on a little longer. It'll be worth it.

I checked Criterion website and no mention of it. I have emailed Criterion and no reply whatsoever. Please post your source for this information. I would be very excited to confirm this as a for sure Criterion future release. Only they could pull it off correctly as it should be!

Thanks.

Criterionforum.org lists it as a distinct possibility because it aired on TV with a new print and the Janus logo, so it's quite likely, but I guess I should've posted that originally. I say go ahead and get your hopes up. This year has been great so far with hard to find films getting released.

Thanks for the reply! I did record it when it was shown on Dish Network. I will retain it to my hard drive until that day arrives when i can gladly lay down my cash for the DVD. :-)

So how can anyone be charged for copyright infringement when there's no actual dvd or video tape on sale? Could you be kind enough to post it up somewhere on the net, on some video format (divx, xvid) so people like me can download it... I watched it on Dish Network too but I don't have a recorder. And of course, if it were available on DVD I'd buy it. Thank you in advance.

I have no information about criterion releases but it seems that if something gets restored and released overseas that they are interested in it might be easier to get a release over here. Criterion's version of Sans Soleil/La Jetée comes to mind. Currently, in PAL form, there exists 2 Louis Malle box sets that include films like Zazie and Black Moon (along with some of the titles already featured in Criterion's catalogue) so I wouldn't rule out a domestic release. Now if they can just release a 2 disc set of Picnic at Hanging Rock with all the Australian releases extras and anamorphic presentation I'd be happy.

According to the criterionforums.com website, Janus Films (which is strongly connected to Criterion) has purchased the distribution rights to this film. Since they're doing "My Dinner With Andre" in June, it seems likely that they'll do "Black Moon" later this year.
