Ben Johnson 'Bite the Bullet'

Ben Johnson's final monologue in "Bite the Bullet" is one of the great moments in cinema. When I first heard it I taped it on an audiocassette AND wrote it out in longhand. Damned if I know where I stored them. I searched youtube with no luck. If you know any Web site that has it, please let me know.

Is that it? The picture is on Hallmark channel right now.

I guess it's like looking at clouds. You see one thing and I see another. Peace.

One of my all-time favorite character actors.

"Mister: God, what ain't I tried. Pony express rider, Overland Stage driver, lawman, gambler, riverman, rancher, rodeo hand, barman, spittoon man... old man. Never much to remember. Of course, there ain't much to forget, either. Nobody's got much use for an old man. I can't blame 'em much. That's why I'm going to win this here newspaper race. When I cross the finish line, I get to be a big man. Top man. A man to remember. "

Terrific scene from an actor who was a fixture in so many westerns.

He fitted that part like a glove on a hand.

I loved the little bit of banter between him and Jan Michael Vincent's character:

Carbo: "I'd rather be in hell than Oklahoma"

Mister: "Every man to his country"

EXCELLENT! Although, it is being released via Twilight Time, and they usually run so many copies before they become unavailable (I missed out on their GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD run). Here it looks like 3,000 copies will be available.
