What happened to the Mexican at the end? (SPOILER)

He was shot near the end of the film, but was talking to Clayton and seemed
as if he wasn't mortally wounded. I didn't notice him with the Englishman and the other also-rans at the end--did he survive?

I think Hackman asked him if he was ok after the ambush and he said more or less, but he obviously could not ride. I like to think they split all the money three ways.
